Our sustainability

Jewelry With Ethics

As a small brand with big dreams, it is our mission to continuously improve our processes: always opting for more sustainable methods.

Did you know, more than 80% of the world's silver supply is still mined? At Loulourose, we commit to only using recycled precious metals. Using recycled precious metals will cut CO2 emissions by two thirds for silver and more than 99% for gold. One of the key benefits to the environment is the considerable reduction in water use as a result of less mining.

Carbon Neutral Company

Mangroves Planting

We are incredibly blessed to live in a country that is the perfect place for mangrove plantation. Did you know? Mangroves can annually sequester carbon at a rate ten times greater than mature tropical forests! With a greener future in mind, we have worked with together with the locals living in the coastlines to plant 6000 mangrove trees to date!

Q: What is 100% recycled silver & gold?

Basically our gold and silver are never mined. Instead, they are developed from pre-existing gold material that is refined to remove any impurities and imperfections. Fact: gold and silver are able to be repeatedly reused without losing quality or harming the environment.

Q: why do you have gold dip & real gold?

It's all about the budget. We always promote real gold jewelry for durability but we understand that the price point might not suit everyone. Our gold dip or plated jewelry is an answer to those who want to get the same look as real gold jewelry but for less.

Depends on the karats

Can you tell which one is gold dip and solid gold?

GOLD DIP SOLID GOLD
To make gold-dipped jewelry, a thin layer of real gold (must be at least 10k gold) adheres to the silver through an electroplating bath. It is a good option for those who like the look of gold but are working on a budget
The karats of gold depend on the number of other metals it is mixed with. Since pure gold is 24 karats, we always measure out of 24 parts. So 18k gold is 18 parts of pure gold and 4 parts of other alloys, 16.8k gold is 16,8 parts of pure gold, and 5,2 parts other alloys
Those with high pH skin may also have their gold dipped pieces tarnish quicker
More superior because it’s the most durable, valuable and least irritating to those that have allergies to base metals
it’s almost impossible to tell real gold from gold plated jewelry just by looking at it
Solid gold can last a lifetime and become an heirloom piece of jewelry
Gold plating uses real gold but because of how little gold is used, it doesn’t hold the value of real gold jewelry and therefore have no resell value
You can always resell your gold jewelry to a legitimate and reputable gold jewelry shop or a pawn shop, the price would depend on the daily gold price

 * we use 925 Sterling Silver as the base metal for all our gold-dipped jewelry (not brass)

925 STERLING SILVER

Pure silver gets a 999 rating. The reason sterling silver requires the mixture of other metals is because naturally, pure silver is soft. Adding other metals to the silver increases the hardness, making it more suitable and durable for use in jewelry.

The 925 marking that you see in silver jewelry is represents purity of the silver. It means that for every 1000 parts of material in the jewelry piece, 925 parts must be made of silver and no more than 75 parts should be a different metal. It breaks down into 92.5% silver and 7.5% alloy.

All our jewelry are electroplated. For silver and white gold jewelry we electroplate with Rhodium to enhance the durability and luster.

Q: where do you source your pearls?

Most of our pearls are cultivated on family-run farms in Sumbawa where they are carefully harvested — both for the pearl’s wellbeing and the safety of the marine environment, unless stated otherwise.
